How to Care for your flooring

Learning how to clean hardwood floors is essential for protecting and maintaining your beautiful investment. Since dirt and grime can’t hide on hardwood floors like they can on carpets, cleaning your floors may seem “high maintenance.” However, once you establish your own routine, the best way to clean hardwood flooring won’t seem so difficult.

Dusting and Vacuuming

Giving your floors a regular dusting with either a microfiber mop or cloth or vacuuming will be your best daily defense against scratches and surface damage. Microfiber cleaning pads often use static electricity to trap dirt, particles, and other household allergens. When Vacuuming it is recommended to use soft bristle brush attachment, if using an upright vacuum, making sure the beater bar is off, so not damage the flooring.If using a broom, make sure to use one with bustles, as to not damage the flooring.

Flooring should also be cleaned periodically. When cleaning you flooring it is recommended to use a mop with a detachable machine washable microfiber pad, with the proper cleaner.

For oil or Hard Oil Floors with a use, the manufacture cleaner or Rubio Monocoat Soap

Wipe up spills immediately using a slightly damp towel.

Do not wet-mop the wood flooring, extensive use of water will cause damage to the flooring.

Do not Use vinyl or tile cleaners, polishes, acrylic polishes, waxes or oils, they will quickly dull your finish and prevent wood flooring from being able to be recoated.

Preventive Maintenance

Use quality mats at outside doorways to help prevent grit, dirt, and other debris from being tracked onto your flooring.

Use floor protector pads on the bottom of all the legs of your furniture to prevent scuffing and scratching.

When moving heavy furniture, do not slide it on wood flooring. It is best to pick up the furniture completely to protect the wood flooring

Avoid walking on your floors with cleats and high heels, to prevent dents.

Pet nails should be trimmed regularly to prevent scratching and denting damage to your flooring.
